2/23 Tuesday




*** Mr. Sean came to visit us today!  We read the story Oh, Cats! to him and he read the stories Oh, Cats! and The Nap to us!  Mr. Tim visited us again, too.  (Ask us how he scared and surprised us!)  Thank you, Mr. Sean and Mr. Tim! ***

TODAY
* These are our 3 calendar sentences:
1. Yesterday was Monday, February 22, 2010.
2. Today is Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
3. Tomorrow will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010.

* We read our story What Pam Can Do.  We focused on these 5 words:
1. that (a spelling word!)
2. what (a spelling word!)
3. all
4. find
5. make

* We practiced our 10 spelling words to help us get ready for our spelling test tomorrow.

* We continued studying the letter Hh.  We sorted pictures and words by those that begin with Hh and those that do not begin with Hh.

These 12 words begin with Hh:
1. house
2. hippopotamus
3. hat
4. heart (We love this word!)
5. hose
6. hug (We love this word, too!)
7. hammer
8. horse
9. hay
10. hen
11. hook
12. hive

These 6 words do not begin with Hh:
1. bed
2. sink
3. table
4. box
5. ladder
6. bear

* We worked on our listening skills by listening to sentences and circling the pictures that go with the sentences.

* We also worked on identifying patterns using shapes and other pictures.

* We started working on our next letter, which is the letter Mm!  These are our 2 Mm words:
1. mother
2. milk

* We completed these pages:
Phonics Level K pages 40 and 41
Let's Go Let's Begin Student Book page 36
Let's Go Let's Begin Workbook page 36





HOMEWORK
* I am sending home a spelling words homework paper.  Circle the spelling words that are spelled correctly.  Please complete it and return it to school tomorrow in your backpack envelope.

* Read the 3 calendar sentences above.

* Read What Pam Can Do (posted 2/21 Sunday).

* Read and spell the 12 words above that begin with Hh and the 6 words above that do not begin with Hh.

* Your spelling test will be tomorrow!  Please practice your words.
